At the monthly meetings we update members on vision related events in the local area. We also have a speaker each month, and refreshments. It’s a great way to make friends with other people who have Macular problems. Partners, friends and family are very welcome too!
Annual Coach Trip
This takes place every Summer. Members, friends and family are welcome. It’s a great day out!
Last year, 2024, our outing was a visit to Leamington Spa for half a day, followed by a visit to the Guide Dog Training Centre for a tour.
This year, 2025, on July 15th, our coach trip went to the National Memorial Arboretum in Alrewas, near Lichfield.
Theatre outings
Each Year the Stoke Repertory Theatre hosts charity evenings, where one performance of their latest production is dedicated to raising funds for our group. It has always been a terrific evening.
In 2026, on April 16th, we are going to see ‘The Railway Children’ for our charity evening.
In November 2025, members can see ‘Kinky Boots’ at the Regent Theatre. This is an ‘Accessibility Performance’, with audio description available.
In January 2026 members will visit the New Vic Theatre to see the Christmas presentation, ‘The Little Mermaid’’. This was also an Accessibility Performance with audio description provided. Some members can join a ‘touch tour’ of the backstage rooms before the performance.
Christmas Lunch
Each year we enjoy a meal together. At Christmas 2025, on December 9th, our festive lunch is at the Borough Arms Hotel in Newcastle. Members will pay £15 for a four course meal, the remainder being subsidised from group funds. We have always enjoyed lovely food there, with lovely staff too.
